After news about Vishal lending a helping hand to farmer Balan, who was beaten up by the police for not paying his agricultural loan, now it is comedian Karunakaran’s turn! He pitched in Rs 1 lakh for the farmer. With the state elections round the corner, such gesture could raise many eyebrows!
Vishal tells DC, “I felt it was my duty to clear farmer Balan’s loan. I was disturbed seeing that video of police thrashing the farmer. I strongly believe that farmers are our pride.”
Karunakaran, on his part, deposited Rs 1 lakh in Balan’s account and said that he hopes it would aid the farmer to repay his loan amount. He wrote on his Twitter page, “Loan recovery agencies should follow code of conduct. There’s nothing called poor or rich farmer. Let’s not see ‘Made in China’ on rice (sic).”
