My Valentine date is with Dev: Karthi
Karthi’s Dev, where he essays an adventure junkie who gets into breezy, romantic relationships, is releasing this Valentine’s Day and the actor says one need not celebrate V-Day only on February 14 and that it can be celebrated on any time of the year.
“I told my wife much in advance to spare me on Valentine’s Day, as my ‘Valentine’ date this year is with Dev, as I want to make lovers and families who throng the theatres happy and to spread love by promoting the film in various screens in the city,” Karthi says while spills the beans about his V-Day plans.
Talking about the similarity he shares with the onscreen character Dev, he says, “Like how Dev has been brought up by his dad and likes to live the moment and does exactly what he likes to do, I also to an extent act in a similar manner. Dev does not run behind money, rather he wants to gain lot of experiences travelling around.
I am not adding more films to my kitty just for the sake of money; I choose my script and do it. That way also we are alike. The only difference is he is quiet, but I speak a lot (laughs).”
Does it also reflect the way your dad Sivakumar brought you up, we ask. “My dad was very busy with his films and I got the opportunity to mingle with him only when I was in 10th standard. More than anna Suriya, my sister and I used to discuss many things with him. But he never ever advised me, instead will only share his life experiences.”
