As we reported earlier, famed banner Sri Thenandal Films that is bankrolling the big-budget historical movie Sangamithra officially announced that Jayam Ravi and Arya would be essaying the lead heroes in Sundar C’s directorial venture — with AR Rahman composing the music. The makers, initially, wanted to turn the film into a multilingual project, but now the film will just be a Tamil-Telugu bilingual.
The makers were in lookout for a lead female actress with pan-Indian appeal. Also, on an earlier occasion, it was said that director Sundar was looking out for a heroine who is a powerhouse performer, besides being good-looking for the titular role. Now, a close source to the production house reveals that Shruti Haasan is the front-runner for Sangamithra’s lead lady and she would soon go on board. Though, Sangamithra is a fictionalised historical drama, it still has contemporary issues which people would be able to connect, a close source discloses.
