Will never contest Nadigar Sangam elections: Sarathkumar
There’s nothing wrong in Vishal’s attempt to contest the R.K. Nagar elections as anyone who has the right to vote can do so in a democratic country,” remarked actor and politician Sarathkumar at the the launch of his new app — ASK, which stands for ‘Accountable, Successful and Knowledgeable citizens’. Recently, even actors Vishal and Kamal Haasan launched their own apps called ‘V Shall’ and ‘Maiam’ respectively.
As far as ASK is concerned, it will serve as a bridge between Sarath and the citizens. The user-friendly app has been launched with the objective of sharing state, national and global news and is an attempt to solve people’s day-to-day problems as soon as possible.
While speaking to the press later, the actor took all sorts of questions in his stride. About the query regarding Vishal’s rejected nomination, he replied, “It’s not a big issue, it’s a common occurrence . Even our Puratchi Thalaivar MGR’s nomination was rejected once.”
When asked about vice-president Ponvannan’s resignation from Nadigar Sangam, he said, “It seems there’s no harmony among the members in Nadigar Sangam. They have to work towards achieving what they had promised during Sangam’s elections. I am ready to help them if they need me.” However, Sarath also asserted that he would never contest the Nadigar Sangam elections again.
When prodded about the unrest in the Tamil Film Producers’ Council, Sarath said, “Even I’ve heard that there have been some irregularities in handling funds, etc, but I am not aware of its by-laws. However, now Vishal tells them that whoever wants to complain about him can tell him personally instead of going to the press. I said the same thing when allegations were made against me in Nadigar Sangam. No one listened! It hurt me a lot. But I would continue to serve the Sangam in the capacity of a member.”
