Sridevi's next in demand

The makers of Mom are dubbing the film in south Indian languages, going against the initial plan.

Sridevi’s Bollywood thriller, Mom, is a landmark movie for the actress as she is completing 50 years in Indian cinema and it is her 300th offering. The movie, which has AR Rahman composing the music, will be released on July 7, along with the dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, says Sridevi’s husband and the film’s producer Boney Kapoor.

Since Sridevi has a huge fan base especially in the south, sources say that the makers have changed their initial plans of releasing only in Hindi, and have opted for dubbed versions in south Indian languages.

Boney Kapoor made it official through a statement saying, “Ever since the teaser released online, distributors have been requesting that the film be dubbed in south Indian languages and hence, this decision.”

Sridevi’s last B’town movie English Vinglish, released five years ago and in Kollywood, her comeback flick, Puli, a Vijay-starrer, received a lukewarm response.
