Karuppan goes on floors
Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film Karuppan under Paneerselvam’s direction went on floors in Theni on January 11. We had earlier reported that the Dharmadurai actor would sport a new look for the film, which is a rural entertainer.
Speaking to DC, producer AM Ratnam says, “We have planned to complete the film in a single stretch of 70 days. Karuppan will be a family entertainer with commercial elements. The film has a huge star cast which includes Bobby Simhaa, Kishore and others.”
The ace producer is excited about his first-time collaboration with Vijay Sethupathi. “Moving away from cliched village roles, Paneerselvam has crafted a different character for Vijay Sethupathi. His career graph has been exceptional and with the right scripts, he has the capability to achieve big things in the industry. We will announce the heroine in a couple of days,” says AM Rathnam.
It has been reported that actress Lakshmi Menon has been finalised as the heroine. Sources say that Lakshmi, who had gained weight in Rekka, has shed several kilos and will be spotted in a chic look for the movie.

Vijay Sethupathi’s Puriyadha Pudhir has been postponed yet again. It was said that the film had to be pushed further because of the unavailability of a good number of screens. But, producer Deepan Boopathy of Rebel Studios has disclosed the real reason for the movie’s postponement. He has stated, “The release of Renjit Jeyakodi’s PP has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances that are not related to this film, but to my other film Aako — which has caused this unfortunate situation.”
