The latest buzz on Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan is Amala Paul, who was reportedly brought on board for a crucial character, is now out of the magnum opus. Sources say that though there were call sheet issues, the main reason was said to be because Mani is not happy with her present looks and felt that her face may not suit the character he had pitched. He is said to be looking for another top heroine to replace Amala.
To be made on a whopping budget of Rs 300 crores by Lyca Productions, the ensemble cast includes Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Keerthy Suresh. While AR Rahman will score the music, Ravi Varman cranks the camera.
