After Thondan, Samuthirakani and Sunaina once again team up for Halitha Shameem’s film Sillu Karuppati, an anthology, which has four stories and the characters are connected in some of the most unlikely places.
Leela Samson, who made an impressive debut with Mani Ratnam’s O Kadhal Kanmani, has been roped in for one of the stories. Leela will be seen as an a spinster and it talks about the bond she develops with a person who is a tenant in her house
Speaking to DC, Halitha of Poovarasam Peepee fame reasons out the choice of Leela Samson, “She is close to the character I wrote, where she is a bharathanatyam teacher and volunteers for olive Ridley turtle conservatory. In real life also she is a dancer and has great concern for animals. And she is just so elegant and efficient. The male lead for that story is Kravmaga Sreeram.” Other stories have actors including Samuthirakani and Sunaina, child artiste Sara Arjun, Manikandan, Nivethaa Satish and Rahul.
“To set up each story with different backdrops with multiple artistes and technicians did take some time,” she adds. The four cinematographers include Manoj Paramahamsa, Abinandhan Ramanujam, Vijay Kartik Kannan and Yamini Yagnamurthy. Pradeep Kumar has composed the music. The movie will be ready for release in November.
