An apology from Suriya's quarter
Actor Suriya’s interview about the NEET exam and Anitha’s death to a vernacular newspaper invited caustic remarks from BJP State President Dr Tamizhisai Soundararajan. Reacting to Suriya’s opinions, she said, “Suriya is an actor who does not know anything about NEET, and he earns in kodi (crores) while we are all toiling in theru kodi (street corners). Only a doctor would know the importance of NEET and not an actor.”
This didn’t go well with Suriya fans who started trolling the politician and creating memes with abusive language.
Now, the All India Suriya Welfare Association released a press statement requesting all fans not to indulge in any negative activities — as their matinee idol would never support this.
The statement says, “Positive feedback has been pouring in for our dear brother Suriya’s opinion on NEET exams, but, unfortunately, respectable BJP State leader Dr.Tamizhisai Soundararajan’s has remarked seeing things on a peripheral manner. In any case, that’s her opinion. We’ve also heard that a section of Suriya fans have been indulging in making abusive comments on her. Suriya would never tolerate any such thing.”
It further says, “We should deal with anything in a straightforward manner and handle it effectively in a healthy way. We strongly condemn those fans of on social media and those who are members of the fan club who stoop to such low levels. All reputed educationalists know about Suriya anna and his Agaram Foundation. Suriya anna will stand by what he has said in that interview.”
It further stated, “If any of our brothers’ words had hurt Dr Tamizhisai Soundararajan, we offer our apologies to her on behalf of all Suriya fans.”
