We all found that there is a poet lurking inside director Lingusamy when he released his first book Lingu —Kavithaiyum Oviyamum, a collection of his poems a few years ago. After a gap, the ace filmmaker has penned his second book Lingu 2 — Selfie Edutthu Kolgiradhu Maram, which was launched at filmmaker Gautham Menon’s beachside office recently.
Poet Abdul Rahman unveiled the first set of books amidst several filmmakers’ presence including Parthiepan, Balaji Sakthivel, Vasanthabalan, Sasi, Mysskin, Stanley, Marimuthu, Nalan Kumarasamy, Raju Murugan, Vijay Milton, lyricist Viveka, and Arivumathi among others.
Speaking at the event, Lingusamy, who is maintaining a low profile, post the debacle of two big films including Anjaan and Uttama Villain, turned quite emotional.
He said, “Poems are my only source of solace during tough times. Even as I am talking to you, three out of six rings, which went as missed calls, could be from financiers who had lent me money. But, I am not worried about my debts. I won’t cheat anyone and I am confident that I can pay them back.
In fact, when I came to Chennai from my native city, all I had with me were a few poems and loads of self-assurance that I would make it big in Tamil cinema.
When I have so many people to support me now, why should I worry? With this state of mind, I will be announcing my new film soon.”
