Prabhudheva opens up on first Tamil film in 6 years, starring Vishal and Karthi
Prabhudheva returns to wielding the megaphone in Tamil after six years, with Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja, featuring Vishal and Karthi. Sayyeshaa, who is awaiting the release of her debut Tamil film — Vanamagan, has been brought on board. “Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja is not about the colour, but a war between ahimsa (non-violence) and violence,” reveals Prabhu-dheva at the formal launch.
“For two heroes to join hands for a film, they have to be good friends,” says Karthi, adding, “Though I didn’t know Vishal well before, it was during the Nadigar Sangam elections that we became close. My character in KRVR is humour-based and Vishal has a different shade.” Vishal, on his part, discloses that the film is going to be a memorable one. “This is my second with Prabhudheva — he knows how to get the best out of me. It’s about two friends with contrasting characters — like Sholay, not in terms of content, but because of its high-entertaining quotient,” he adds.
Heaping praises on Sayyeshha, he shares, “Karthi and I had an opportunity to watch one of her dance performances also! Karthi has a dance routine with her in KRVR and it is going to be tough for him.” (laughs). He also stated that they would donate part of their salaries for the Nadigar Sangam building funds. Sayyeshaa adds, “The first time I met Prabhudheva sir was when he choreographed my song. It was like a dream come true! And now, it is all the more so amazing being part of his directorial venture.”
