Dancing legend Prabhudeva turns lyricist!
Prabhudheva has donned multiple hats in the past — choreographer, actor, dancer and producer as well. But now he’s donning yet another new role! Dheva has turned lyricist for one of his films, Yung Mung Chung, a period drama directed by debutant MS Arjun.
Speaking to DC about his new avatar, Prabhudheva says, “Since I knew the entire story, I was constantly giving director Arjun and composer Amresh suggestions about the song. It wasn’t an deliberate attempt to get into lyric writing. While jamming, everyone liked the pallavi (intro) and suggested that I write the full song.”
Delving deeper, he reveals, “The song sung by Shankar Mahadevan starts off with lyrics Ayyanaara Vandhutanga Inga Paaru. This introduction number was completed in 20 minutes. I really enjoyed writing it. Being a director has its own perks as we tend to come up with suggestions for our songs and it helped me a lot. We picked a theme for the saranam of the song and penning lyrics for a complete song was fairly an easy job. My favourite line from the song is Valiyaala Puli Ah Maari.”
