RK's new concept of distribution lauded

At a time when bringing audiences to theatres is a tough proposition, here is actor/producer RK, who has come out with a unique method of distributing films, called Hit-box, which will ultimately curb piracy.

While speaking at the trailer launch of his upcoming movie Vaigai Express, RK said, “The Hit-box concept is where each individual becomes a distributor. I book the theatre where my film is releasing for four weeks and buy all the tickets for the period. For Vaigai Express, I have created 1,000 distributors who will be selling the tickets in advance at a flat rate of '100 per ticket and if a person buys three tickets, we give two more free of cost. This will definitely lure the entire family to the theatres. Now, my film has been sold for four weeks and I have realised my profit. Any producer can adopt this method.”

RK was lauded for his unique idea by many top producers and actors including Nasser, RK Sevamani and Kayar at the event. Directed by noted M’town filmmaker Shaji Kailash, the film has five heroines namely Neetu Chandra, squash player turned actress Komal Sharma, Sanusha, Suja Varunee and Ineya. The entire film happens in a moving train.

Much to the surprise of everyone, Neetu revealed that she plays a dual role in the movie. “People say I am not to be seen often in K’town. This movie, where I essay a double role, will be like watching two of my movies (laughs). And being a
producer myself, I know the difficulty of marketing a film. RK, with his new concept, has done this with aplomb.”
