A significant film for Shanthanu

Also, his upcoming film, Mupparimaanam with director Adhirooban, former assistant to Bala, seems to be making headlines as well.

Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, despite being the son of the popular star couple — Bhagyaraj and Poornima — could not get the right break in K’town for several years. But he seems to be a happy man these days. His next, Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga with Parthiban, which is all set to hit the marquee for Pongal, has already got good feelers from the trade circuit. Also, his upcoming film, Mupparimaanam with director Adhirooban, former assistant to Bala, seems to be making headlines as well.

Speaking to DC, Adhirooban says, “Mupparimaanam is an important movie in Shanthanu’s career and I am confident that it will make a big mark.” He adds, “It’s a romantic thriller. Everyone has different dimensions to them — and what may seem obvious to some, isn’t always the way it turns out! Shanthanu plays Kathir, while Srushti Dange essays the role of Anusha. They are medical students and childhood friends — the conflicts that arise in their life and its repercussions form the crux.”

Quiz him if the movie touches upon dark realities of life like his mentor Bala’s, and he replies, “Not really! It has a mixed genre and is largely entertaining. It has a message and people would easily relate to the happenings. GV Prakash took 55 days for the rerecording alone,” quips Adhirooban.

Taking a cue from B’town’s Om Shanthi Om, in which more than 20 Hindi actors appeared in a song — the director has roped in 27 artistes including Jackie Shroff, Prabhu, Bhagyaraj, Ramya Krishnan, Arya, Poornima, Vivek, and Radikaa, among others for a party song.
