Siddarth supports #MeToo
Actor Siddarth said the allegations against lyricist Vairamuthu should be heard out and investigated without any prejudice. He also hopes that Nadigar Sangam and Producers Council would do something to create an environment for the survivors of this movement. In a series of tweets, he expressed his views, “Multiple women are speaking out against Kavignar #Vairamuthu. Without judging anyone, they must be heard. When somebody of @Chinmayi's stature, who has so much to lose stands by the accusers, that's huge! There will be investigation. First Step # ListenToTheAccuser #MeToo #Timesup”
“If the accuser names herself, you say she's doing it for attention. If the accuser stays anonymous, you question her authenticity. The identity of the accuser is not relevant. That she chose to identify her abuser publicly is! Courage & closure. Supersede all else. #MeToo #Timesup”
#TamilCinema took to the streets when #Jayalalithaa was arrested on corruption charges. I have faith that #ProducersCounciland #NadigarSangam will come together soon and create a safe environment for survivors in this movement. Let’s talk@ VishalKOfficial # MeToo #Timesup,” Siddarth concluded.
