Mangaleshwaran has made Maragatha Kaadu with passion: Bharathiraja
Filmmaker Mangaleshwaran’s upcoming film Maragatha Kaadu sheds light on the destruction of forests and the resultant devastation of the livelihoods of indigenous communities. The movie has been shot entirely in natural light, in dense forests, and it aims to convey a message about protecting nature. Produced by Raghunathan of RR Films, it features Ajay, Raanchana, Jayashree, and M-town director Iliyas as part of its cast.
At a recent promotional event for the film, Bharathiraja said, “It looks like Mangaleshwaran is a nature-lover; he has made his film with such verve and passion. After watching it, I feel like going to a forest and settling down there, in the midst of nature, forever.”
He also praised the director’s choice of actors and said, “My debut film 16 Vaiadhinile was initially to be made in black and white, so I chose Nagesh for the Chappani role. Later, when the makers decided to make it in colour, I quickly reshuffled the cast and had the good-looking Kamal Haasan replace Nagesh to play the dirty-looking character. I had a gut feeling that people would accept the casting, and that proved to be true. A creator should not compromise on certain things.”
