Anushka Shetty in 'Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaayaa' sequel?

VTV was made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, and it had Trisha playing the female lead. The film was later remade in Hindi.

According to the latest rumours doing the rounds, Anushka Shetty, who was last seen in Singham 3 in Tamil, has been paired opposite Simbu in the sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaayaa. Directed by Gautham Menon, the original film was a trendsetter of sorts, with AR Rahman’s chartbusters being the highlight. VTV was made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, and it had Trisha playing the female lead. The film was later remade in Hindi.

Sources close to Menon say that the filmmaker intends the sequel on being a multi-starrer featuring Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada actors. The Baahubali actress was approached a year ago, and she has given the project her nod. Anushka has previously worked with Gautham in his Ajith-starrer Yennai Arindhaal.

The director, who is currently busy with Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta and Dhuruva Natchathiram, is likely to begin working on VTV2 only at the end of this year or early next year.

Meanwhile, STR, who has completed Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivandha Vaanam, has announced that he will be seen in Venkat Prabhu’s Maanaadu, an action-thriller laced with politics.
