While many celebrities are averse to the idea of close interaction with fans, Vijay Sethupathi is a different person. Fondly addressed as ‘Makkal Selvan’ (People’s Man), he happily greets fans who come to meet him by giving them hugs and kisses. In his recent interaction at the promo meet of his debut Malayalam film Marconi Mathai, with Jayaram as the lead protagonist, VSP reveals the reason for his hugs and kisses when the latter queried him.
“I don’t like to discriminate against people on the basis of their looks. I get so much of love from fans,” he reportedly said. Recalling how it all began, he said, “Two fans asked me for a kiss during the early stages of my career and posted the photos on social media, making it viral. Since then I have been kissing and hugging fans, not consciously but it comes naturally.”
Not only his fans, VSP was seen hugging and kissing people at a recently concluded TV show on unsung heroes, which he was hosting. “I believe love is the best medicine in curing anything in the world,” is very much VSP’s philosophy.
