Ace actress and director Revathy has slammed veteran Malayalam screen writer, actor and director Sreenivasan for making the comment that the case against actor Dileep was fabricated. Dileep had been accused in the sensational abduction and sexual assault of an actress in 2017. Sreenivasan’s comment on the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) — saying the association serves no purpose as there is no exploitation of women in the industry — has also irked Revathy.
In an interview, Sreenivasan had expressed his opinion on Dileep and it went viral on the social media. He had also said that he believed there’s no gender inequality at the cinema workplace. This did not go down well with many, including Revathy who shared a video on her social media page to blast the actor.
She wrote, “Sad that celebrities whom we respect for their work speak this way. Don’t celebrities need to be more responsible when they speak? Don’t they need to think about how such statement reflect on the next generation?”
