At the audio launch of Kaala (produced by Dhanush in his Wunderbar Films banner), Superstar Rajinikanth remarked that his ‘maapillai’ takes care of his wife (Rajini’s daughter Aishwarya) well. "He respects his parents a lot. He is a good father as well. He is a wonderful and talented boy. I am not saying this, just because he is my son-in-law", he added.
Recalling as to how it all started and he ended up doing a film under the Dhanush banner, Rajini said, "After Kabali, when I wanted to start my next film, I asked Aishwarya in a lighter vein - Your Wunderbar would make films only with Dhanush? Will you see only Dhanush as a hero and not people like me?" "And she said, ‘I don’t know. You have to ask him.’ Then Dhanush said that it wouldn’t be right for us to approach. If you give, we would be too happy to produce."
Dhanush on his part said that Kaala was not produced by actor Dhanush but by Venkatesh Prabhu (his original name), an ardent fan of Rajini sir from childhood.
Dhanush also shared a few qualities which he learnt from his father-in-law.
"On the last day of Kaala, a strenuous sequence was being shot. It was going on and on after midnight. I asked him if it was okay. He said, ‘Film is everything to us. There are so many people who haven’t got this opportunity.’ I saw his devotion to his profession then. Even when the people who had grown due to Rajini sir speak bad about him, he never gets perturbed and just smiles’. I learnt patience from him."
He elaborates, "When we started inviting people for Kaala audio, I asked Rajini sir if we had to invite people who had spoken ill about us as well. He said ‘All are our people’. I learnt the quality of compassion then."
"From a villain to a hero to a star to a style king to Superstar, today he is ‘thalaivar’ to everybody and tomorrow’... …(He pauses for a while for the innumerable fans to reply with a thunderous applause). Like you, I am also waiting to see what happens! He concluded.
