Vikram is a director's hero: Vijay Chander
Vijay Chander is currently helming his second project titled Sketch. Vikram and Tamannaah play the protagonists in the film, which is set in north Chennai.
Talking to DC, Vijay says, “The movie is a beautiful romantic story with mass elements incorporated into it.”
Ask him about the quirky title he reveals, “It is a slang used in north Madras which goes well with the script. I can’t divulge anymore information.” So, is he not apprehensive about the title being an English word due to which the makers may not get the tax exception? — “Oh not at all! From June onwards, this system of availing tax for Tamil titles is likely to get scrapped and I think our film would be the first to avail tax with an English title.”
The young director says that the compatibility between Vikram and Tamannaah is great. “We shot in huge sets erected by art director Maya Pandi in Royapuram and in Binny Mills. While Vikram sir plays a guy from north Chennai, Tamannaah is a college girl hailing from a middle class family. We recently shot a scene at a prominent coffee shop.”
Heaping laurels on Chiyaan he said, “He is a director’s hero. Despite his stature, he is so grounded. Being highly versatile, he brought the exact output that I had conceived in mind. It was Vikram sir who motivated me to pen the lyrics for Kanave Kanave song, which he rendered later. It’s a huge hit! It’s a pleasure working with Vikram sir.”
On Sri Priyanka, who was the recent addition to Sketch, he adds, “She has a solid role and her character brings a turning point in the story.” Soori, Radha Ravi, Sriman, Ravi Kishan, RK Suresh form the supporting cast.
