Maaligai gave me scope for various shades of acting: Andrea Jeremiah

Producers Kamal Bhora, Rajesh Kumar, JK, Vijay Antony, KS Ravikumar, Telugu comedian Ali, Dil Sathya were also present on the occasion.

“Maaligai where I play a dual role of a cop and a princess initially was to be made as a Kannada movie. My producers from Mumbai and director Dil Sathya felt that it should be made as a bilingual in Tamil also as I have a good market in K’town. But, I guess filmmakers here have not realised my potential as of yet. I don’t know why!” remarked a peeved Andrea Jeremiah at the teaser launch of her upcoming film. “It is a very significant film in my career. I really thank hero JK for agreeing to be part of a heroine centric movie,” she said.

Speaking on why she accepted Maaligai she revealed, “Actresses are defined more by the roles they say ‘no’ to it than the roles they say ‘yes’ to it. In my career, I say ‘no’ more often than I say ‘yes'. I agreed to this film for the sole reason that I have a dual role, which seldom a heroine is offered. There is a period segment to be portrayed. I have not got a similar offer earlier. The film gave me an opportunity to prove various shades and different looks like action, romance, emotions, cop look, princess look, which appealed to me. Audiences are also receptive to such genres. The film is packed with a lot of commercial entertainment”.

The film revolves around an Assistant Commissioner who ventures into a palace for investigation and ultimately gets to know her past. The period segment dates back to 300 years ago.
