Sshivada roped in for a complex role in Maddy’s Maara

In an earlier interview to DC, Dhilip revealed the reasons for choosing Madhavan as the lead hero.

Sshivada is reportedly the latest addition to Madhavan starrer Maara, which is a remake of Malayalam blockbuster Charlie. While Madhavan will reprise Dulquer Salmaan’s role in Maara, Shraddha Srinath, who has already been brought on board, will do Parvathy’s role in the original. Touted to be an adventurous romantic drama, it is directed by Dhilip of Kalki fame. Maddy and Shraddha made a cute pair in Vikram Vedha, as audiences may recall.

In an earlier interview to DC, Dhilip revealed the reasons for choosing Madhavan as the lead hero. “The lead protagonist character itself demanded someone with innate charm and only Madhavan can do justice to it”, he said.

When DC contacted Sshivada, the pretty actress said “Yes, I am essaying a crucial role in Maara. At this point of time, I can’t reveal more, but all I can say is that it is totally a different portrayal and I have not attempted it so far (smiles).”

Our sources tell us, though, that she will be seen as the complex character which Aparna Gopinath did in Charlie.

The Nedunchaalai actress insists there should be no ‘caste tag’ to her name, and it was ‘never hers’. “There’s no Nair as suffix to my name. I don’t know from where the media got this. I don’t believe in adding caste names to my first name. I request you to call me just Sshivada,” she says.

On the work front, Sshivada has Vallavanukku Vallavan with Bobby Simha and Iravaakaalam with S.J. Suryah.
