Pragamiyam, a noble attempt in K'town

This film is a psychological thriller that will deal with love and family sentiments as seen through the subconscious mind.

A young marine engineering graduate Prathap is all set to make his debut as a director with Pragamiyam. This film is a psychological thriller that will deal with love and family sentiments as seen through the subconscious mind.

Elaborating about his film, director Prathap says, “Pragamiyam is a combination of art, directorial and commercial elements. While the film will talk about love, it will be from the subconscious mind. Also, it will explore the relationship of a father and son by comparing them to the ruling government and people respectively. Pragamiyam will also touch upon the concept of body swapping.”

The censor committee initially decided to issue an S certificate for the movie.
“Giving it an S certificate means the film can only be watched by engineers, doctors, scientists, etc. After going to the revising committee, they gave it an A certificate! Since the film has been deemed so, I won’t change the title, which is presently in Sanskrit, to a Tamil word — as it won’t get tax exemption anyway. They gave it an A certificate because the film will psychologically impact the audience,” he reveals.

Pragamiyam was shot in and around the city, Aarani and the Tamil Nadu border. Prathap is doubling up as the hero while Parvathy and Subha play the female leads. Music director Raj, cinematographer P Muthupandian are part of the team.
