Sai Dhanshika floored everyone with her power packed role ‘Yogi’ in Rajinikanth gangster movie Kabali where she played a professional killer. She was appreciated not only for her performance but also for her stylised looks.
Now, ‘Yogi’ returns with a female centric film titled Yogi Da. Sai Dhanshika has been roped in for an action entertainer, directed by Gautham Krishna, a former associate of ace Sibi Malayil and Chakri Toleti.
The film, bankrolled by Jatpatma Cinemas, has Bollywood actor Kabir Singh who debuted with Ajith’s Vedalam as the baddie locking horns with Dhanshika.
From the first look poster where Dhanshika wields guns in both hands, we could infer that she is after anti socials or in an encounter mode.
Speaking to DC from Coimbatore where the film has gone on floors, Gautham was not too willing to spill the beans, but said, “I can’t reveal much at this point. It is a high-octane action thriller laced with other filmy ingredients including romance, emotions, humour etc. Dhanshika essays a challenging role and even as I wrote the script, I felt no one other than her could do justice to the lead protagonist character. The major advantage is she has trained in martial arts and that she can do risky stunts without needing a body double.”
The makers Rajkumar and Arunagiri say that they wanted to try out a new music composer for Yogi Da, where the background score is very crucial. “Hence, we are launching Isshrathquadhre, younger sister of Oscar winner AR Rahman for the music.” One may recall that Isshrat, who has sung several songs for her brother’s compositions, has already made her debut in a Hollywood film Lake of Fire. Ace Bhoopathy will be cranking the camera. Sayaji Shinde and Manobala play supporting cast.
