Madhu's role in Agni Dev has nothing to do with JJ, says John Paulraj

Madhu essays a minister named Sakuntala Devi and that led to rumours the role could be based on the late CM J. Jayalalithaa.

Roja fame Madhu Bala returns to Tamil after a long hiatus to play a highly negative character in Bobby Simha’s next titled Agni Dev. Ramya Nambeesan will be romancing Bobby. John Paul Raj of Chennai Oru Naal fame and debutant Sham Surya direct the movie.

The first look of the film was released recently. Madhu essays a minister named Sakuntala Devi and that led to rumours the role could be based on the late CM J. Jayalalithaa. John Paulraj refuted the rumours, saying, “Madhu plays an antagonist, but it has nothing to do with Jaya madam whom I respect a lot. She was a great political leader. When I narrated the subject, Madhu was excited and said she wanted to make her villain role special and different from that of Ramya Krishnan’s Padayappa or Varalaxmi’s recent negative roles. The story is about the fight between Bobby and Madhu and the ensuing cat and mouse game and one-upmanship narrated in a thrilling manner.” While comedian Satish is also part of the cast, the film has music by Jakes Bejoy.
