Mithunkumar on a roll
Mithunkumar who was recognised for his villainy act in Kalathur Gramam is a happy man these days. Though son of ace producer Rajkannu, the actor has made a mark with his own strengths. Having graduated from the prestigious Chennai Film Institute, Mithun worked as an assistant director in two films. Reportedly, he has been roped in for two new films as the protagonist.
“It was Magizh Thirumeni who was instrumental in bringing me on board in Kalathur Gramam. He always encourages me to go in front of the camera. My dad watched the movie and did not react in a negative way. He said that I did justice to what was given to me,” Mithun says. Though he has been getting offers as a hero, Mithun is keen to work in roles with grey shades. “I have done many stage plays. Directors choose me for villain roles because of my unique smile and big eyes. I am keen to do anti-hero subjects as well,” he quips. Mithun will be seen as the lead guy in Gautam’s (a former assistant to Rathinasiva) debut film. Gautam has won national award for his short film Kadamai. Yet another film in the pipeline is Radhan Raja’s (who has tutelage under director and actor Samuthirakani) new movie where Mithun is the male lead.
