GV Prakash's first U' certificate film
He donned greasepaint and turned hero just a year-and-half back. But GV Prakash Kumar, who is awaiting his fifth release Kadavul Irukkan Kumaru (KIK), has carved a niche for himself and is now a bankable hero in K’town.
Incidentally, this is GV’s first film releasing with a clean ‘U’ censor certificate. He also has half-a-dozen films in his kitty, including an untitled musical with cinematographer-director Rajiv Menon.
“I attribute my success to audiences who are able to connect with my on-screen characters,” GVP begins his conversation with DC. Having said that, the Darling actor quips, “I did not expect this kind of a reception within such a short period. I took my profession seriously and did my work sincerely. Perhaps that helped me as well.” (smiles)
KIK is a milestone film in his career, GV reveals — “This is the first time I am doing a road film. Rajesh has woven an interesting screenplay and it is a rocking entertainer. It will be worth the money spent on it.”
On teaming up with Nikki Galrani and Anandhi for the second time, he says, “Nikki is bubbly and does the entertaining parts very well, while Anandhi is a soft and intense performer.”
How does composer GV evaluates the actor in him? — “Hmm… Decent! I like close-up shots, which give me more opportunity to showcase my emotions — I feel I can pull it off with ease. And with a good line-up of movies, I think I am getting better with each film.”
He also considers that his humour sense and dance moves are his strengths as an actor. Reasoning out on Rajiv Menon bringing him on board for his next untitled flick, he says, “It is a musical being composed by AR Rahman and that’s why Menon opted for me. It has a brilliant script, and will be a pan-Indian film. I play the role of a musician and have even been learning certain rhythm instruments to prep for the project!”
Yet another film he is looking forward to is CV Kumar’s fantasy flick, where he could get an image make-over. “It’s heart-warming to note that I started getting offers from noted filmmakers with different genres of script and screenplays,” he concludes.
