The catchy lyrics of Club Le Mubbu Le still lingers in the minds of people. From being an independent artist, Hip Hop Adhi has come a long way. Now, the Thani Oruvan composer is all set to make his acting debut in  Meesaya Murukku. The film also marks his maiden directorial venture, which is produced by Sundar C under his banner Avni Movies.

In an exclusive chat with DC, Adhi reveals, “I have donned multiple hats for my debut film — as a screenplay writer, dialogue writer, lyricist and a composer.

Meesaya Murukku is a college love story which has all the elements of a commercial film. We have completed 45 days of shooting and a couple of songs are pending. Vivekh sir is doing an important role.”

When asked if he had always wanted to helm feature films, he says, “I never thought about entering  the film industry. After I became an independent artist, I was directing music videos. On seeing Takkaru Takkaru’s (a video about Jallikattu) response, Sundar C insisted that I become an actor. But, I pitched the story of Meesaya Murukku to him and he gave his nod within five minutes of narration.”

Adhi claims that Sundar C wanted to launch him in a big way. “He had big plans for me. However, I suggested that I bring my whole team into this movie. He gave me the confidence to start this venture,” he muses.

About the cast, he adds, “The film consists of fresh faces. When I came into the industry, I had no support or background. I wanted to help people like  me and scouted the cast and crew through social media. That’s how I stumbled upon the profile of Aathmika on FB and signed her as a lead.”
