Balancing their hectic schedules with domestic duties, actors and actresses too take on the role of frazzled yet concerned parents.

Chennai: Going back to school can be hard for kids of all ages — and for parents, who are scrambling for their wards’ shopping, text books, getting them set for a long year ahead, enrolling them in extra-curricular activities and programmes, and so on. Well, you might think that these are concerns are only for normal parents. If you did, you got it wrong – celeb parents too are gearing up for their children’s new academic year.

Balancing their hectic schedules with domestic duties, actors and actresses too take on the role of frazzled yet concerned parents during this time of the year, going out of the way to ensure their kids ease back into school. They help with daily homework other routine chores that go with being a super mom or dad! We talk to a few celeb parents from the industry about this integral part of their lives.

Jayam Ravi: I’m actively involved in my kid’s school activities. My wife lets me know in advance about the PTA meetings and I make time for it. Nothing ever gets disturbed. I think both the parents’ involvement is essential for the schooling of kids. I make sure am always there for them. I can’t forget this one instance when I attended the sports day of Aarav. My son was looking out for me while he was supposed to start his running race. When his turn came, he spotted me in the vast crowd and shouted ‘Appa I will win’ - everyone started laughing and encouraged him. He did finally win. Those moments were precious.

Uma Riyaz Khan: This year, I am changing my younger son Samshad’s school because we are shifting our house to ECR—it has been hectic. He will be in Class VIII. In addition, I am a working mother and have to shuffle between my work, my children’s studies, and my husband’s commitments. Since it has become a routine for me, I have learnt to balance things.

Ramya Krishnan: Whenever I am in town, I make sure that I attend to all Rithwick’s chores. He is in the sixth grade, so I actively attend school annual day event and science exhibition, besides PTA meetings. Basically, he is independent and starts on his own to school. In fact, we both will start in the mornings together when I go for my work!

Arun Vijay: I try to spend time with my kids whenever possible. My wife Aarthi takes care of my children’s school activities. My daughter Purvi Vijay will be in Class II this year and my son Arnav Vijay will be in UKG. They understand their dad’s work and don’t fuss at all. Thanks to Aarthi – she has told them about my work and is very supportive of me. She takes care of kid’s studies. Even though I am busy with my work, I check and update about my kid’s studies. My son is very excited of me going to his school. Whenever I go to his school, someone will come and talk to me about my movies. He loves the attention very much! Whenever possible, I bring kids to the sets also. They enjoy watching the shooting.
