The climax was demanding: Actor Sree

He talks to DC about his latest release Maanagaram.

Sree, who was introduced by none other than Balaji Sakthivel in Vazhakku En 18/9 and later did commendable films like Onayum Aattukuttiyum and Vil Ambu, talks to DC about his latest release Maanagaram, a movie which is garnering a lot of attention and critical acclaim for its making, fresh approach and engaging screenplay. Directed by debutant Lokesh Kanagaraj, it has Sundeep Kishan and Regina Cassandra as his co-stars.

“When Lokesh approached me, he was particular that I should be cast for the role of a soft natured person, who comes to the city in search of a job. Lokesh was very confident that I could pull it off — his trust gave me a big high. At that time, I knew that Sundeep was also part of the cast,” Sree says. The young actor says that he was happy when director Pa. Ranjith appreciated his performance. “After watching Maanagaram, Ranjith sir gave me a pat, and said ‘I loved the movie and you have given an excellent performance.’ It means a lot to me,” he states.

Sree says that the climax portion, which is packed with emotions and action, was a challenging one for him. “Lokesh and the entire unit gelled very well and it was like a gang of friends working together. There was a give-and-take-policy that prevailed during shooting, which made our job easier. However, the climax was very demanding. I had to express the right emotions so that the message was conveyed properly. At the same time, Lokesh wanted it to be realistic without any drama.” (smiles)

Sharing screen-space with another hero did not deter Sree. “Right from my debut, I have been working in dual hero-subjects; in OA, Mysskin sir was there. For me, the top priority is to choose good scripts and work in them. I only look at my portions in the script, as how I can score and contribute for its betterment.” On his co-stars, he says, “Regina is cool and easy to work with. Sundeep and I got along very well.” The actor is all set to sign his next film shortly.
