A trio of heroes for Mani Ratnam's Thalapathy 2?
K’town is abuzz with reports that prolific filmmaker Mani Ratnam is apparently all set to start a sequel of his superhit gangster film Thalapathy. And hold your breath, he has approached and got the concurrence of two biggies for the ambitious project — Vijay and Vikram — to reprise the roles of Rajinikanth and Mammootty respectively, who featured in the original!
Rumours are rife that the Roja director met both the actors and narrated the storyline to them, and might start the project after Kaattru Veliyidai’s release. The alluring aspect is that Ram Charan might essay the significant role, which Arvind Swami did in the original.
When we contacted Mani’s office, a source says that it is not true and with other fresh projects on his hand, Mani is unlikely to start this Thalapathy adaptation anytime soon. The rumours could have been triggered because of Vikram’s recent visit to Ratnam’s office, the source adds. His assistant Bejoy Nambiar, who is remaking Agni Natchathiram, yet another Mani film, in Hindi is considering a Thalapathy remake also in B’town.
