Bakrid vouches for Save the Camel' campaign

Actor Vikranth is back with an intense film titled Bakrid, which has an unusual theme. Directed by Jagadeesan Subbu of Sigai fame, the film talks about the bond shared between a camel and a man. It revolves around Vikranth who plays a farmer and how a the camel enters in his life accidentally and his travel to save the animal from a predicament. Vasundhra essays Vikranth’s love interest.

Talking to DC, Vikranth says, “It’s a different kind of a film and I think for the first time a camel is being brought on board as part of the script. I loved the story when Jagadeesan Subbu narrated it.”

The actor says there was a pre-preparation time of eight months before they actually started the shoot. “We got a camel named Sarah from Rajasthan and I got trained with it for a month. Though the animal looks huge, once you move with them they are basically friendly and sort of timid. It’s a travel story and we shot in various locations including in Chennai, Manali, Maharashtra, Pune, Rajasthan and Goa. It was a mind-blowing experience.”

Ask him if the film touches upon the sensitive issue of camel sacrifice during Bakrid, he was quick to respond. “I can’t reveal anything at this point. I can only say the movie has a larger message of ‘Save the Camel’.

Imman composes the music for the film. Six top celebrities - A.R.Murugadoss, Atlee, Vijay Sethupathi, Vishnu Vishal, Arya and composer Anirudh — unveiled the trailer recently on their social media pages, garnering good reviews.
