Actor Vikranth is back with an intense film titled Bakrid, which has an unusual theme. Directed by Jagadeesan Subbu of Sigai fame, the film talks about the bond shared between a camel and a man. It revolves around Vikranth who plays a farmer and how a the camel enters in his life accidentally and his travel to save the animal from a predicament. Vasundhra essays Vikranth’s love interest.
Talking to DC, Vikranth says, “It’s a different kind of a film and I think for the first time a camel is being brought on board as part of the script. I loved the story when Jagadeesan Subbu narrated it.”
The actor says there was a pre-preparation time of eight months before they actually started the shoot. “We got a camel named Sarah from Rajasthan and I got trained with it for a month. Though the animal looks huge, once you move with them they are basically friendly and sort of timid. It’s a travel story and we shot in various locations including in Chennai, Manali, Maharashtra, Pune, Rajasthan and Goa. It was a mind-blowing experience.”
Ask him if the film touches upon the sensitive issue of camel sacrifice during Bakrid, he was quick to respond. “I can’t reveal anything at this point. I can only say the movie has a larger message of ‘Save the Camel’.
