Krishna and Anandhi starrer Pandigai, which has been in the making for over a year, is gearing up for a March release. Directed by Feroz, this film is jointly produced by him and actress (and wife) Vijayalakshmi of Chennai 600028 fame.
Elaborating on the plot of the film, Feroz reveals, “Krishna plays a street-fighter and his character has had a rough childhood after being abandoned by his parents. He grows up in an environment where violence is the answer for everything. He gets entangled in a gang who conducts illegal bet fights. How he comes out of the gang and realises that violence is not the right way forms the crux.”
The debutant director is all praise for his cast and his wife and producer Vijayalakshmi. “Krishna is hard-working and he takes criticism in his stride and will give you what you need. Anandhi’s character influences the hero’s life and she was the first person to come on board. I didn’t want any other heroine to do her role. With Vijaylakshmi, it was different. We fought a lot and I took advantage of her. But, she is a lovely producer and would understand my needs very well. Only when the budget would be going overboard, she’d have a problem,” he quips.
When asked about the delay, Feroz explains, “We got married when we were shooting for the movie, so we had to take a break. Also, it was difficult to bring back the star cast again. Before every schedule, I take time to prepare myself and all I was worried about was the output. I am confident of my project now and kicked about the release.”
