Rajini and Kamal haven't given me time yet: Suresh Chandra Menon

Suresh Menon, who has now bounced back as an actor in his second innings in films, has his kitty full of films.

Filmmaker and actor Suresh Chandra Menon, who has come out with many socially relevant ideas like constructing eco-friendly toilets with showers for rural women out of discarded shipping containers and traffic maps to reduce congestion, has come out with an app called My Karma for public cause. He was the person instrumental in the conversion of the city’s Raj Bhavan road into one way system.

Suresh Menon, who has now bounced back as an actor in his second innings in films, has his kitty full of films. He talks to us about how the app imparts knowledge, helps to earn and have fun at the same time. “I am in the film industry for more than 40 years. Having started as an assistant cinematographer and turned full time lens man and then took to wielding the megaphone and later donned greasepaint, I have worked in all departments of filmmaking. Besides films, I thought it’s time that I come out of my own shadow. I have been into several social projects and do it for my satisfaction and not for money. Some of my ideas like reducing the traffic congestion at Tidel Park junction and a few suggestions for Corporation of Chennai to make money through parking facility are still lying with the respective departments for a long in the government. I tried to meet PM Modi to discuss several ideas which will be useful to society, but I am yet to get time.”

Ask him if he approached Kamal and Rajini who are now politicians and with whom he has worked together in the past, he replies, “I did ask for a time to meet them, but till today I have not heard from them.”

On the app, he says, “My Karma is a live quiz show every evening about our nation which will have questions predominantly on Indian heritage, music, dance, rivers, mountains, lakes, leaders, sportspersons etc. It will have three shows namely, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm every day, where people can sit with their family, to answer those. Those who give maximum correct answers will be rewarded with cash prizes.”
