Sashikanth of Y Not Studios, known for making quirky films like Vikram Vedha, has officially announced his next project Thamizh Padam 2.O, a sequel to his 2010 blockbuster with the same name, which also has an unusual subject. C.S. Amudhan, who directed the first part, will be wielding the megaphone once again. While Shiva and Disha Pandey are retained from the prequel, yet another pretty actress, Aishwarya Menon, has been brought on board for the second part. Sathish plays a vital role as well.
The movie gave a new identity to actor Shiva and he got rave reviews for his performance in TP, which was a full-length parody of contemporary Tamil cinema. So what’s new in Thamizh Padam 2.O, we ask Sashi. “The first part had an open end indicating a sequel to it. This is also a spoof genre with a different take. And Amudhan was working on the script for the past one year. The film will have loads of fun and entertainment.” Prod him on the title and its striking similarities with yet another most awaited sci-fi thriller under post- production, he says with a grin, “There’s a reason to it and it will be justified when you watch the movie.”
Debutant Kannan’s music was one of the highpoints of Thamizh Padam; hence the makers have retained him for the sequel as well. Gopi Amarnath will be behind the camera.
