Trisha to debut in Mollywood opposite Nivin Pauly!

Filmmaker Shyamaprasad will direct the flick titled Hey Jude, in which Trisha plays a Malayali.

Trisha has been in the industry for more than a decade and has carved a special niche for herself. Having acted in several languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi, the svelte lady is now making a foray into the Malayalam film industry for the first time! The interesting aspect is that she will be romancing Nivin Pauly, in the film titled Hey Jude (inspired by the Beatles song, perhaps?), helmed by multiple national award winner Shyamaprasad.

The VTV star, on several earlier occasions, turned down M’town offers and has been busy with several films in her kitty. So, what made her take the plunge finally?

“The year has been good and I am happy that people are coming to me with scripts written for me. Though I was getting offers from Malayalam industry earlier — and some of them were also good — I could not accommodate the dates when they approached me. This time too, when this project came up, I was a bit hesitant, as my dates are blocked for six months now. At the same time, I was keen to hear the script since it is from a noted filmmaker. It was a mind-blowing script and a heroine rarely comes across such meaty roles. There’s a lot of scope for performance. The entire team was appealing and I gave my nod and signed on the dotted line,” Trisha tells DC.

She adds that, having waited so long, this would be the right project for her debut in Malayalam. The film has an ensemble cast of Mukesh, Urvashi, and Pratap Pothen, among others. Trisha is currently wrapping up her film, Mohini, a horror flick, where she plays the dual roles of a chef and a ghost.

The actress also confirms her presence in the Tamil remake of Bollywood movie NH 10, reprising Anushka Sharma, which will kickstart soon. Then there’s yet another movie with Vijay Sethupathi directed by cinematographer Prem Kumar of Naduvula Konjam Pakkathai Kaanom fame. She is also acting in an untitled woman-centric film.
