From being Dhanush’s co-actor in her debut film Thiruda Thirudi, Chaya Singh has come a long way as she plays an important role in the actor’s maiden directorial Power Pandi. The two grooved to one of the all-time hit songs in Tamil cinema the iconic Manmadha Rasa! In fact, this song catapulted the actors to a different level. Speaking to DC, Chaya says, “Thiruda Thirudi’s director Subramaniyam Siva, who is working on Power Pandi, referred me to Dhanush. Later we all met, and Dhanush agreed that I fit the role. I won’t be seen throughout the film though. It’s a simple and sweet role!”
She claims that Dhanush was clear in what he wanted from the actors — “I never felt that I was working with a first-time director. Dhanush is child-like with the kids on the sets. When the actor is also a director, the work is a lot easier as he knows what he wants. I will resume shooting by the end of December.”
Apart from this, Chaya also plays a Bollywood actress-turned-housewife in Jayadev’s Pattinapakkam, in which Kalaiyarasan is the hero. “I have a troubled marriage and Kalai’s character is someone who makes quick bucks. How the story moves forward when our paths cross forms the story,” she reveals. The actress is ready to sign more films after the release of Pattinapakkam.
