Harshika a promising talent in K'town
Kannada actress Harshika Poonacha is making her Tamil debut with Un Kadhal Irundhal helmed by Hashim Marikar. “I’m glad to have this film as my launchpad in Tamil. Thanks to Facebook, through which Hashim approached me. I was initially signed on by him for a project which had Jai as the hero. Unfortunately, the project got delayed. That is when Hashim said that he has got another script in mind and roped me in for Un Kadhal Irundhal,” she began the conversation.
Harshika is glad that the film is shaping up well. “I play Sana, a college girl in the movie. I’m a person who is loved by everyone in college. I’ve completed 80 per cent of the talkie portions and will head to the UK with the team to shoot two songs — a solo number and a duet with my pair Maqbool Salmaan.”
Though born and raised in Bengaluru, the actress is fluent in Tamil. “It was easy for me to act in a Tamil film as I know the language very well. I grew up watching Tamil movies. I’m a great fan of Ajith and I’d love to do a movie like Sachien,” she adds.
The talented actress also revealed that she is still a part of the film starring Jai and the shooting is expected to resume sometime in September.
Harshika is determined to choose the best roles for her. “I want the audience to come to the theatre to see my performance. I take time to choose characters and I make sure I have scope to perform,” she concludes.
