A rom-com with slapstick comedy
Debutant director Indra is making his entry into tinsel town with his film, Tubelight, a rom-com featuring himself and Dhiya in the lead roles. Actor Pandiyarajan essays an important role in this flick.
Indra is donning multiple hats in this film —director, actor, and music director. Speaking to DC, the director said, “We have incorporated slapstick humour in the film. I will call this as our USP and I believe a rom-com, without many dialogues, will set us apart from similar movies. Being a Charlie Chaplin fan, I wanted my actors to provide comic relief through their body language.”
An interesting fact is that Indra had locked in the songs and background music even before the shoot commenced. “Since I was working on the script for six years, I knew where to place a song and where the saxophone or violin would go in the background. It wasn’t as difficult as it seems — it was a cake-walk for me,” he shrugged.
Indra, an ad filmmaker and corporate theatre trainer, claimed that he worked on the bound script 14 times before finalising it. “The script is written in such a way that it magnifies my positives. So, I worked on the script more than 10 times to ensure that I got it right,” he concluded. Tubelight is on the last leg of post-production and is expected to hit the theatres before Diwali.
