Now that Tollywood star Akkineni Nagarjuna is acting in a Tamil film Thozha, titled Oopri in Telugu, here comes another of his movies to be made into Tamil. 2008 released T’town average grosser Krishnarjuna, in which he played lord Krishna, is being released as Rowdy Maappley. Krishnarjuna had Vishnu playing the male lead with Mamta Mohandas as his romantic interest and the typical commercial potboiler was directed by ace filmmaker P Vasu. The film, which featured Nasser, Napoleon, Manorama, Brahmanandam among others, was also talked about for Mamta’s dare-to-bare attitude, especially for the songs.
Scheduled for a March release, despite being exam time, the makers of Rowdy... are confident that they would recover their money as the craze for watching big budget T’town movies in Tamil continues. Even if the film runs for a week, we will get decent collection, they vouch!
