Tamil film industry condoles M Karunanidhi's death

Today is a Black Day in my life, as Kalignar Ayya passed away. Let his soul rest in peace, says Rajinikanth.

Sivakumar: After Periyar and Rajaji, only Kalaignar attained prominence as a pan-Indian leader. He implemented schemes for the betterment of the oppressed no sooner he came to power, as envisioned by Periyar. He preserved Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the party built by Arignar Anna, for nearly 70 years. Kalaignar excelled equally in cinema and politics. He was instrumental in making Tamil cinema dialogues more authentic in the 1950s. I delivered his dialogues in films like Paasa Paravaigal and Paadatha Theneekkal. He watched and blessed Suriya’s first movie Nerukku Ner as well as Karthi's debut Paruthiveeran.

Vikram Prabhu: Grandad’s oldest friend, his best man at his wedding, a part of the family even before the brand Sivaji came in to the industry & a well-wisher of all things related to Annai illam . We will miss you Aiyah.

Khushbu Sundar: This was the last pic I had taken with him a little over a month ago..Never knew this will be the last time I will be seeing the great Leader..will miss you Appa.. The Son of the Sun has set, never to rise again.. The era of the great #Dr.KalaignarKarunanidhi comes to an end.. a name that will be etched in the minds n hearts of everyone in TN..he will be remembered till this planet has history of tall Statesmen who have served their people till the last breath..#Dr.Kalaignar is immortal. I feel I am orphaned..
