As Rajinikanth warms the hearts with Kaala; Fans make it a gala affair

Superstar comes roaring back with a champion of the downtrodden theme in a film with good cinematic values.

It’s Kaala everywhere in the city. Rajinikanth’s fans went crazy on seeing their ‘Thalaivar’ back to form with his inimitable swag, punch lines and mannerisms. They hooted and cheered while making rapturous noises over the film. Many theatres including Kaasi and Woodlands in the city wore a festive look with Rajini’s hardcore fans performing paal abhishekams to thaliavar’s huge cutouts. They also did their high octane dance routines to celebrate.

Director Pa Ranjith was spotted at the first day first show of Kaala at Sathyam complex. No sooner he came out of the theatre, than many thronged him, praising him for the cracker of a film with their matinee idol at a time he is creating a huge wave in the State with his political entry.

Talking to the press, Ranjith said, “Kaala is not a film to propel Rajinikanth’s political entry. It’s rather a film which speaks about the present day problems people face in the society, especially the oppressed. I am happy it has reached the masses at the right time.

The feedback has been extraordinary. There has been an overwhelming response pouring in from the morning.”

There’s a dialogue in the movie which goes like this - ‘Old flag should come down and new flab should be raised’. Does it have any significance regarding his present political scenario? “No’, he retorts. “It goes with the script and not meant for anything. It is just Rajini sir wanted to do a good film with me. And whatever that has been said are my views made as a script and nothing is forced in it.”

After watching the film, it is very clear that Kaala is more of a Ranjith film than a Rajinikanth film. On the other hand, their earlier collaboration Kabali was ‘Ranjith making a film with the Superstar’.
