Vishal announces respite to Tamil Nadu farmers

Apparently, the resolution has to be approved at the general body meeting of the council before executing it.

Even as the government is finding it difficult to solve issues of farmers, Vishal, who assumed charge as the president of Tamil Film Producers’ Council recently, made a huge initiative to support them.

Speaking at an event organised in the city to introduce the newly-elected office bearers of TFPC, Vishal said, “In order to help the farmers, the council has decided that every producer should contribute one rupee from every sold ticket of a Tamil film in the state — an attempt to raise fund for the farmers. This is applicable to all the shows of Tamil films released in TN.”

Apparently, the resolution has to be approved at the general body meeting of the council before executing it.

The actor also said that they are organising a musical night ‘Isaivom’, a concert with maestro Ilaiyaraaja, to raise funds besides conducting an awards function for the Tamil film fraternity.

Filmmaker/producer Mysskin has been appointed head of the anti-piracy committee, an issue that has been eating away producers’ revenues.

Talking more on the issue, Vishal told DC, “We are making it mandatory for every producer, small or big, to pay Rs 54,000 when their films hit the theaters, which will be given to Qube, which in turn will conduct the forensic analysis for every film. Once we locate where the piracy originates from, we will ban those theatres permanently and will not cooperate with them.”

On the occasion, clad in traditional white dhotis and shirts, members of various associations — including Nadigar Sangam, FEFSI, TV actors’ association, distributors’ association, and the PRO union — wished the new team.
