Actors' kin do their bit on International Women's Day

Divya Sathyaraj conduct workshops regularly for women to create awareness about various health issues.

Not only actors do their bit for society — so do other members of their family, as was evident by the way they pitched in for various causes on the eve of International Women’s Day. Veteran actor Sathyaraj’s daughter Divya, who has carved a niche in the medical line as a psychiatrist and nutritionist tells DC, “I conduct workshops regularly for women to create awareness about various health issues. To go with International Women’s Day, I conducted an interactive seminar ‘Diet therapy during pregnancy’ and emphasised the need for eating a well-balanced nutritious diet, which will reduce the risk of pregnancy complications. It was attended by many people from different walks of life.” Apart from this, Divya is also working on her book Food and Nutrition.

After musicians like ARR and Anirudh did concerts recently and raised funds, here is Usha Uthup with a similar gesture — bringing her onboard is popular comedian- turned-director Chinnie Jayanth’s wife Jayashree through her initiative. Says Jayashree, “I have formed an enterprise called ACE through which we hold a series of fundraising concerts to support a cause. The dual purpose is to entertain audiences and raise funds for a purpose. Accordingly, pop queen Usha Uthup madam will be performing in the city for a fund raising programme, Rock N Roll. I am glad that pianist Anil Srinivasan and actor Siddharth, who worked tirelessly during the recent deluge, are joining hands and lending their support to the event.” The proceeds are being used to build a school in Urappakkam.
