This is the latest on Vijay 61! While Jyothika who was touted to play one of the crucial characters in the Atlee-directed movie, opted out, many names were speculated to replace her. It was said that Atlee met Asin (who quit films post her marriage) as he wanted a powerhouse performer for the role to take forward the story.
Close sources to Sri Thenandal Films, which bankrolls the project, now reveal that Nithya Menen has bagged the opportunity to share screen space with Vijay.
Nithya was last seen in Iru Mugan opposite Vikram and was paired opposite Jo’s hubby and actor Suriya in 24. Vijay 61 already has two big heroines, Samantha and Kajal Aggarwal, as Vijay’s romantic interests and has an ensemble cast of Sathyaraj, SJ Suryah, Vadivelu, and Sathyan among others. While AR Rahman does the music, the movie started rolling recently at a studio in OMR and Nithya is expected to join them in a couple of days.
