Suriya gets teary-eyed at Agaram event

It is well known that Suriya strives to serve society through his Agaram Foundation, which works to provide education for the underprivileged. The actor got emotional and almost broke down at the launch of a book about his Foundation recently, when a girl spoke about her travails.

Agaram Foundation launched two books — Vidhyasam Thaan Azhagu and Ulagam Pirandhadhu Namakkaga — in the city. At the function, a young girl named Gayathri, who had completed her education with the aid of the Foundation, shared how she had been able to pursue her studies despite many hurdles. Her father had died of cancer and her mother is a daily wage labourer. With tears rolling down her cheeks, she recounted how she hailed from a backward village and saw Suriya's assistance as a blessing.

Her story brought tears to Suriya's eyes too. The NGK actor went up to the girl and consoled her. He held her by the shoulders and wished her well. This gesture of Suriya's has made his fans proud, and the video is going viral on social media platforms.
