I am just a normal person like any of you “, remarked Isaignani Ilayaraja at the ticket launch of his upcoming grand show Ilaiyaraaja 75 that took place at the International Balloon Festival at Mahindra city. “I am so humbled by the love and affection showered on me by all,” he said.
The Actor and Producers Council chief Vishal said, “Raja sir is an identity to our film industry. His music has always given me happiness and solace be it any situation in my life. Even when I was arrested recently over the issue of TFPC, I was quietly listening to maestro’s songs. When I go to foreign countries, sometimes people ask me if I am from Bollywood, I tell them that I come from Tamil film industry and immediately they connect with Raja sir. I feel this is the right time to celebrate his music and IIlaiyaraaja 75 is a great tribute to Raja sir”.
The show is scheduled for February 2 and 3 at YMCA Grounds at Nandanam. The first day will have artistes and technicians from other regional industries who will be gracing the occasion besides performing on stage. On February 3, the entire evening is Raja’s as he will be performing several of his hits. Many singers are expected to perform on stage. Ilaiyaraja announced that besides giving the proceeds of the event to TFPC , part of royalty will also be shared with them as well as the Music Union.
Later, a huge hot air balloon with images of Raja was floated with the maestro and a few members including Vishal from TFPC show taking a ride in it.
