Gnanavel Raja steps down from TFPC
Noted producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja, stepped down as the Secretary of Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) recently and now will be contesting for the President post in the upcoming Chennai Kanchipuram Thiruvallur District Film Distributors Association election.
Reasoning out as to why he has taken this decision, he says, “I have produced about 18 films and distributed more than 28 movies in Tamil Nadu. So, I have undergone the pains as a producer as well as a distributor. I felt that as of now the distributors association is functioning not for the welfare of its members, but for the benefit of a few. I want to get rid of those selfish people and want to make it a place where a fair trade takes place. That’s the reason I am contesting in Chennai Kanchipuram Thiruvallur District Film Distributors Association election.
Also, according to bylaws, if I am contesting in Distributors Association, I am not supposed to hold any position in any other film association and hence resigned my post in TFPC. And not out of any pressure as construed by a few.”
