Vijay Sethupathi is literally living out of a suitcase while working for nine films including Iraivi, Dharmadurai, Aandvan Kattalai and Kaathu Vakkula Rendu Kadhal in his kitty. Yet another film, Rekka under Rathina Siva’s direction, started its shoot on Friday, in which Sethupathi is said to play a kidnapper. Set against the backdrop of Madurai and Kumbakonam, Lakshmi Menon is teaming up with Sethu for the first time, and essays the role of a village belle.

The first shot was canned after the official pooja with the lead pair taking part in it.  Speaking about the movie, Rathina Siva said, “Vijay Sethupathi portrays the role of an advocate, and circumstances force him to kidnap a girl. He is not a serial kidnapper, as misreported by some of the media.” About the title, he says, “Rekka is derived from the Tamil saying Rekka Katti Parakkaradhu which means jet speed or quick action with which one gets work done.”  Siva also vouches that it will be a high action commercial entertainer for fans of Vijay Sethupathi.
